Pumkin

The house beyond the dead trees has been empty for years. Its gate is rusted shut, its windows are dark, and the path is buried beneath fallen leaves. Yet a pumpkin still burns at the entrance. They call it Pumkin. Above it, the moon hangs in the same place every night. Halloween never ended here.

Now the bats are stirring, little orange faces are appearing across the grounds, and a light has returned to an upstairs window. Look closely. Something you missed a moment ago might be watching you now. The house has noticed that you’re here.
